OICI's affiliate network represents sustainable development in practice
One of OICI's major achievements has been its work in establishing a network of local affiliates in the developing world. OICI provides its affiliates with the support during their inception that gives them the ability to design, implement and manage their own projects, and to secure their own resources. The affiliate model is powerful, as it gives local groups the ability to design programs that specifically address the needs of their communities. Many of OICI's affiliates have been continuously providing services to their communities for over 30 years.
OICI affiliates have been made strong both by the linkages they have with the skilled staff at OICI, and ultimately because of the skilled staff and boards that operate each respective affiliate organization. OICI partners with its local affiliates when possible and continues to provide technical and program support when necessary.
