HOPE: OIC International Supports
Those Affected by HIV and AIDS in Ghana

OIC International brings its signature self-help philosophy to the difficult problems facing people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in Ghana by helping these groups achieve the economic self-sufficiency necessary to apply knowledge about prevention of the disease and provide care and treatment for those infected.

The HOPE Program provides care and support and enhances economic opportunities for PLHIV, OVC, and caregivers and support organizations in the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra and Western regions of Ghana and is supported by a grant from USAID's Food for Peace Program.

Five New Members Bring Invaluable Expertise
To OIC International Board of Directors

Five new members have been elected to the OIC International Board of Directors, bringing to the organization, Board Chair Edmund D. Cooke, Jr., said, “invaluable expertise and important understanding of our mission.”

Named to the Board were —

• Guillaume G. Castel, senior business development manager for Cisco Systems, Inc.

• Dr. John Cole, interim chair in the Department of Economics and Finance at North Carolina A&T State University

• Dr. Brendan Horton, consultant for the World Bank

• Dr. Randall W. Maxey, a nephrologist in private practice in Los Angeles

• Ms. Sandra Morgan, director of outreach programs for Kent State University College of Arts & Sciences

Cameroon OIC Graduates Its 22nd Trainee Class

Cameroon OIC racked up another accomplishment as the first human resource development center for skilled technicians in that West African country when its Buea center graduated its 22nd class of trainees - one of the largest in its history.

Nigeria OIC Marks 40 Years
Of Skills Development

Nigeria OIC, OIC International's first affiliate, will mark the start of its fourth decade of service to Africa's most populous country when it hosts a visit by three of OIC International's board leaders. Coincident with preparation for Nigeria OIC's 40th anniversary activities, OIC International Board Chair Edmund D. Cooke, Jr., Vice Chair James Talton,and Program Chair Emmanuel Irono will travel to Nigeria next month and meet with Nigeria OIC leadership, including Board Vice Chair Bishop Magnus Adeyemi Atilade.
