Opportunities Industrialization Centers Chad (OIC Chad)
DATE ESTABLISHED 2000
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWOIC Chad was established in 2000 with support from the United States Embassy, USDA, the Ministry of Planning, Development and Cooperation, and from private foundations in Chad. Since 2000, OIC Chad has trained hundreds of unemployed youth and women in agriculture. The organization fosters democratic participation at the grass-roots levels and its beneficiaries are exposed to self-help strategies for local empowerment and sustainable development.
PROGRAMSOIC Chad focuses on providing the skills training and assistance to subsistence farmers and rural households that enables them to be more productive and to increase their non-farm income. Training services are offered in:
- Agricultural marketing and training
- Bullock traction
- Farmer credit
- Post-harvest storage systems
- Inventory credit
- Business advisory services for non-farm income generation
