Opportunities Industrialization Centers Mali (OIC Mali)

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWOIC Mali is the most recent local NGO to become affiliated with OICI. The organization is geared towards assisting small farms become more productive and profitable, and more specifically aims to show farmers working on less than five acres that they can earn an adequate income.
PROGRAMSOIC Mali works in the Banamba area with women gardening groups made up of at least 200 producers each. OIC Mali's current programs center around OICI's FarmServe Africa program. OIC Mali hosts volunteer US agricultural specialists who provide training to women farmers in four specific areas:
- Post-harvest sesame processing
- Improved production techniques
- Alternatives to chemical pesticides, for health and profit
- Integrating trees to improve soil quality
