Opportunities Industrialization Centers Tanzania (OICT)
DATE ESTABLISHED 1996
MISSIONOICT's mission is to improve the lives of people through the development of enterpreneurship and business skills, and assistance in increasing business productivity.
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWEstablished in 1996, OICT is the result of a collaborative effort between OICI, the National Income Generation Programme (NIGP) of Tanzania and a local OIC Interest group. Since its inception, OICT has developed into a capable institution with the capacity to implement projects related to skills development and employment generation, and with the expert planning to ensure organizational sustainability. OICT uses sound fiscal policies to plan appropriate cost-recovery methods while still ensuring that its main focus is to serve the needs of the underpriviliged.
PROGRAMS OFFERED Income Generating Skills Development Program
- Promotes self-employment to youth and women
- Builds the capacity of NGOs and other organizations to offer microenterprise development services to their beneficiaries
- Promotes business development in the community
Business Start-up and Enterpreneurship Skills Development Program
- Works with academic institutions to help prepare graduates for successful self-employment
- Educating workers who have been retrenched on how to start their own business so that they can continue to have sustainable livelihoods
Consultancy Services
- Project Evaluation: provides monitoring & evaluation services to government and non-profit run projects
- Designing training impact assessments for organizations throughout the country
- Assisting with market and credit linkages for small and medium-sized enterpreneurs
- Conducting needs assessment surveys
- Workshop facilitation and other capacity building activities
