Opportunities Industrialization Centers Togo (OIC Togo)
DATE ESTABLISHED1976
MISSION To fight poverty in the rural population through increased agricultural production.
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWOIC Togo was created in 1976 and was the first center to become focused on agricultural training. OIC Togo has provided settlement assistance and training in improved crop production and animal husbandry skills to subsistence farmers in the plateau region of Togo, in the town of Todome-Notse. OIC Togo places a strong priority on resettling its trainees so that they have the land they need to utilize their skills.
PROGRAMSThe OIC Togo center reaches out to subsistence farmers, women and unemployed rural youth in the rural villages in an approximately 100km radius around the center. OIC Togo focuses primarily on agropastoral training and resettlement.
Agropastoral Training Students at the OIC Togo center are training in agropastoral techniques, animal husbandry, vegetable gardening, yam-seed multiplication and soybean cultivation and processing.
Resettlement Students are resettled into their own villages after training with credit assistance to ensure that they can utilize their farming skills. Graduate trainees who can not find land are resettled on land that has been obtained by OIC Togo.
